Offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell is out of his walking boot and practicing with LSU, but Rashard Lawrence missed Wednesday's drills.
Lawrence's absence isn't necessarily a surprise. Coach Ed Orgeron does not expect the sophomore defensive end to play in the Tigers' game Saturday at Mississippi State, he said Wednesday morning on the Southeastern conference teleconference.
Campbell, a sophomore backup guard, wore a boot on his foot during last week's game. He has missed several days of practice this fall while battling two different injuries, Orgeron has previously said. Campbell's return is somewhat noteworthy for an offensive line that is thin on depth.
Lawrence's absence is more significant but expected after Orgeron's comment earlier Wednesday. Lawrence was in a boot while walking on the sideline of Saturday's game. He suffered an ankle injury in the season opener against BYU, but finished the game, playing with the hurt ankle.
He was spotted in full pads and without a gold/limited contact injury jersey during Tuesday's drills. He practiced with the team on Monday as well.
"Very questionable. I don't think he's going to play. He can't practice full speed right now," Orgeron said Wednesday morning. "It's Wednesday already. I don't think he's going to play."

Other observations from practice
- Defensive end Frank Herron, dealing with what appears to be an eligibility issue, returned to practice after missing Tuesday's drills. Herron's status is unclear, and he has missed a handful of practices this fall. He did not travel with the team for the season opener and did not dress out for the home opener last week.
- WR Dee Anderson, after practicing Tuesday, was not present during the 8-minute observation window reporters were allowed Wednesday. Anderson's participation in practice Tuesday was the first time reporters had spotted him during drills this fall.
- RB Darrel Williams remained in a gold/limited contact jersey Wednesday. Williams missed Monday's practice and was spotted Tuesday in the gold jersey, with his knee wrapped.
- Several others players continue to be absent from drills, including edge rusher Sci Martin, nose tackle Tyler Shelvin (ineligible this season) and edge rusher Andre Anthony (ankle/foot injury).
