LSU's starting offensive line remained the same at the Tigers' first bye week practice on Tuesday.
Left guard Will Clapp participated fully in drills, and Toby Weathersby, donning a gold jersey signifying limited contact because of injury, practiced as the backup right tackle behind Maea Teuhema. The line included LT K.J. Malone, LG Clapp, C Ethan Pocic, RG Josh Boutte and RT Teuhema. Garrett Brumfield saw some time in a rotating role with Boutte.
Other observations from drills:
- Thompson: OLB Corey Thompson practiced, as he has the last two weeks, but, based on comments from interim coach Ed Orgeron recently, he's not expected to be ready in time to return for the game against Alabama. Thompson fractured his leg during preseason camp and has not played this season. He's a fifth-year senior who could petition the NCAA for a sixth-year of eligibility. (UPDATE: Orgeron said later Tuesday that Thompson will likely take a redshirt this season)
- Absent: TE Colin Jeter and FB J.D. Moore did not practice. Jeter was not in attendance at practice, possibly missing drills because of a scheduling conflict with his academics. Moore watched practice from the sideline. He took a "tough hit" during the opening kickoff of LSU's win over Ole Miss, Orgeron said, and did not play the rest of the game. Orgeron said earlier Tuesday that Moore is "going to be fine" for the Alabama game on Nov. 9. Moore went through concussion testing after the hit. (UPDATE: Orgeron said Jeter has a sprained wrist and that Moore suffered a neck strain)
- No boot: Donavaughn Campbell, the freshman offensive lineman, practiced after donning a boot on his right foot on the sideline of LSU's game against Ole Miss. Campbell showed a noticeable limp during practice.
- Tidbits: LB Devin Voorhies donned a gold jersey. It's unclear why. ... Ed Paris worked some with the safeties, a possibility to solidify LSU's depth at the position. Rickey Jefferson, the Tigers' starting safety, could miss the year after fracturing his leg two weeks ago. ... Safety Xavier Lewis missed the game against Ole Miss with what's believed to be a suspension. He practiced Tuesday.
