Purdue transfer quarterback Danny Etling is visiting LSU this weekend, according to a 104.5/104.9 FM ESPN Baton Rouge report.
Etling wouldn't be an immediate fix for LSU's quarterback issues as NCAA rules would require him to sit out a year.
Purdue coach Darrell Hazell announced Etling's intent to transfer June 11. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound sophomore started the final seven games of his freshman season after replacing Rob Henry. Five games into last season, Hazell named Austin Appleby the starter.
Etling, a Terre Haute, Ind., native never played again for the Boilermakers. In 13 career games, Etling was 238 of 429 with 2,490 yards, 16 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions in 13 career games.
LSU's current starting quarterback situation grew cloudier Thursday. Incumbent starter Anthony Jennings was arrested and booked on unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling, police records show.
Jennings, a junior from Georgia, was expected to compete with sophomore Brandon Harris for the job this season.
