The LSU track and field teams had a total of 14 entries accepted into the NCAA indoor championships to be held March 11-12 in Birmingham, Alabama.

LSU will have equal representation with seven men’s and seven women’s scoring opportunities for the championships, which will be held for the first time at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The men’s team, which came in fifth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, will have a little more firepower with a national leader and two No. 2-ranked performers in individual events as well as the reigning NCAA outdoor 4x400-meter relay team on the track.

Junior Jordan Moore is tied for the national lead in the 60-meter hurdles, while Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (200 meters) and Michael Cherry (400) are second in their respective events.

Fitzroy Dunkley, who is the seventh qualifier in the 400, joins Cherry, Cyril Grayson and LaMar Bruton to rank fourth in the 4x400 relay.

Also qualifying were Donte Jackson in the 60 meters and Johnnie Jackson in the 35-pound weight throw.

The Lady Tigers’ list of competitors is topped by Mikiah Brisco, who will be in the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdle after sweeping the titles in the Southeastern Conference indoor championships last weekend.

LSU’s other entrants are Daeshon Gordon (60 hurdles), Morgan Schuetz (800), Jada Martin (200), Nataliyah Friar (long jump) and the Lady Tigers’ distance medley relay team.

Schuetz won the 800 title at the SEC championships.
