1. Start spreading the news ...

Hoover, Alabama, continues to be LSU’s kind of town. The Tigers improved to 19-4 under coach Paul Mainieri in the SEC tournament with Wednesday’s 11-1 win over Vanderbilt. Thanks to their offense and Jared Poche’s seven-inning complete game, the Tigers put themselves in prime position with Aaron Nola taking the mound Thursday.

2. Band of bash brothers

LSU hit just .147 in losing two of three games at Vanderbilt to open SEC play in March. But the Tigers treated the Commodores like they did Northwestern State and Auburn last week, pounding out 11 runs and 15 hits, nearly half of them for extra bases (home run, triple, five doubles).

3. Turning for home?

College baseball expert Kendall Rogers of said he thinks LSU will host a regional if the Tigers (now 41-14-1) can win one more game here in Hoover. LSU is certainly trending strongly with five straight wins, the victory over RPI No. 6 the most impressive yet. Regional sites will be named Sunday morning.
