Brookhaven (Mississippi) High linebacker Leo Lewis has signed with Mississippi State, he announced Wednesday on National Signing Day.
Lewis, ranked as a four-star recruit, had been an Ole Miss commitment since September. He had also been an Alabama commitment, according to the Biloxi (Mississippi) Sun Herald, after making that pledge in April. (Former Alabama linebackers coach Kevin Steele is now LSU’s defensive coordinator, although he was also a primary recruiting target of John Chavis, LSU’s former defensive coordinator, before he left for Texas A&M.)
His final two choices came down to LSU and Mississippi State, and he placed both baseball caps from both schools on either side of his microphone before choosing State.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder had 76 tackles, including one sack, as a senior after drawing the attention of Southeastern Conference recruiters with 100 tackles, including five sacks, and four forced fumbles as a junior.
