Former LSU star outfielder Mikie Mahtook got the call.
On Thursday, Mahtook found out he'd be joining the Tampa Bay Rays from Triple-A Durham.
Just how excited was the excitable Mahtook?
I've been dreaming of this day since I was 6 years old when my mom would hit me fly balls in the front yard. Words can't even explain the emotions that I'm feeling right now, but spending this special night with my family and friends is the perfect way to end a great night!! Thank you everyone who supported me throughout the years, and also thank you to the people who told me I wouldn't make it!
Mahtook joins five other Tigers currently on MLB team rosters, according to LSU. Charlie Furbush (Seattle), Kevin Gausman (Baltimore), Will Harris (Houston), Aaron Hill (Arizona) and DJ LeMahieu (Colorado) are the others.
Mahtook will join Tampa and make his Major League debut. He replaces John Jaso (left wrist contusion) on the roster.
The Rays play in Miami on Friday. First pitch is 6:10 p.m.
