Rumblings: Picked to finish last in the seven-team SEC West by the media this summer after a memorable 2014 season, the Bulldogs got off to a bit of a sluggish start in their opener and led USM 14-10 at halftime before pulling away with three touchdowns in the third period.

On offense, briefly

Prescott, a Heisman Trophy candidate, had a big night against USM with 309 yards and three TDs. The Haughton native threw for 237 yards and rushed for 72 more.

On defense, briefly

Trying to find their way under new DC Manny Diaz with six new starters, the Bulldogs allowed 413 total yards to USM. But MSU did come up with two interceptions.
