In Columbia, Missouri, the LSU soccer team dropped its Southeastern Conference opener 3-1 at Missouri on Friday.
Jorian Baucom scored in the 54th minute to tie it at 1 for LSU (4-4-1, 0-1), but Kaitlyn Clark answered in the 61st minute for Missouri (6-1-2, 1-0), which also got a 90th-minute goal from Reagan Russell. Russell had tallied in the 51st minute to open the scoring.
LSU visits Marquette at 1 p.m. Sunday.
LADY TIGERS LEAD IN OPENER: In Franklin, Tennessee, the women’s golf team posted an under-par opening round on the South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club and has the first-round lead in the opening tournament of the fall, the Mason Rudolph Championship.
The Lady Tigers posted a 3-under 285 to lead Vanderbilt by three shots. Tulane is tied for ninth at 11-over 299.
LSU’s Elise Bradley leads the individual competition at 4-under 68, a stroke ahead of Agathe Sauzon of Chattanooga and Lakareber Abe of Alabama.
TIGERS WIN TWICE AT UTSA CLASSIC: In San Antonio, LSU posted four-game victories over Baylor and host Texas-San Antonio at the UTSA Classic.
In the first matchup, LSU rallied to win the third set and cruised from there to top Baylor 25-23, 19-25, 28-26, 25-19. In the second match, Briana Holman notched a career-high 23 kills as LSU earned a sweep by topping UTSA 27-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18.
STRONG START AT GEORGIA TECH INVITE: LSU team opened its season in doubles and singles play at the Georgia Tech Invitational, splitting their doubles matchup against Georgia State and taking four of seven singles matches vs. Georgia Tech.
LSU INVITATIONAL IS SATURDAY: The LSU cross country team is set to host its annual LSU Invitational meet on Saturday at Highland Road Park. The Lady Tigers will begin the meet at 8:05 a.m., and the men will start at 9:15 a.m. as each will compete on the 5k course.
