WINDERMERE, Fla. — The LSU men’s golf team posted a 54-hole score of 18-over 882 to finish second in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.

The Tigers also finished second at last year’s event.

LSU posted a 10-over 298 in Tuesday’s final round to finish 26 shots behind top-ranked Texas. The Longhorns were the only team to break par in the final round (6-under 282) to finish 8-under 856.

LSU bettered nine teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 50, which includes No. 3 Stanford, No. 5 Alabama, No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 10 California, No. 11 North Florida, No. 16 Central Florida, No. 30 Florida, No. 33 Indiana and No. 44 TCU.

“I’m proud of the effort our guys showed this week,” LSU coach Chuck Winstead said. “I thought we played one of the better rounds of the day in some difficult conditions. When the wind is blowing like it is combined with pin placements as challenging as you’ll face for a long golf course that’s playing hard, fast and firm, you have a great appreciation for what it takes to compete on a day like today.”

TIGERS TRAVEL TO ARKANSAS: The LSU opens a four-match road swing and squares off with Arkansas as part of ESPNU’s Wednesday Night television package. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.

LSU (14-7, 7-4 SEC) is looking to bounce back from a 3-2 loss Sunday to Ole Miss, while the Razorbacks (14-8, 6-5) have posted wins in four of their past five outings. The winner of Wednesday’s contest will move to first place in the SEC West race.

“Arkansas will be very ready for us,” LSU coach Fran Flory said. “It’s another tough SEC West match, another important match in the SEC West race and an extremely difficult place for us to play. We’re going to have to be very balanced offensively to be successful and have to have done a great job of being recovered mentally, emotionally and physically from Sunday’s Ole Miss match.”
