LSU and Vanderbilt will play a doubleheader Saturday because of Sunday’s gloomy forecast.

The first game will start at as scheduled at 2:15 p.m., and the next game will start 45 minutes after Game 1 is completed.

There is a heavy chance of rain expected for Sunday. Coach Paul Mainieri and Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin discussed the possibility of a Saturday doubleheader before Friday’s game.

It seemed unlikely at the time. Vanderbilt has a turf infield.

The Tigers (17-2) stormed back to beat the Commodores (16-3) 4-2 Friday night on the back of a four-run eighth inning.

LSU will start junior college transfer Kyle Bouman (3-0, 1.46) in the first game Saturday. He’ll go against junior lefty Jared Miller (4-0, 0.36).

True freshman Jared Poché (4-0, 0.90) is expected to throw against Tyler Ferguson (3-0, 1.50) in Game 2.

Game 1 will be televised on Fox Sports Net. Game 2 will not be televised.
