The LSU women’s golf team moved up to No. 6 in the Golfweek/Sagarin performance rankings.

The Lady Tigers have won three tournaments in the past five and finished second in the other. LSU will start postseason play April 17-19 in the Southeastern Conference championships in Birmingham, Alabama.

Madelene Sagstrom is No. 2 in the individual rankings. Caroline Nistrup is ranked No. 14 and Elise Bradley is No. 24

Sagstrom leads the SEC in stroke average among active players at 71.17; Nistrup is third at 72.25,l and Bradley fifth at 72.42.

Ahead of LSU in the team rankings are No. 1 Washington, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Southern California, No. 4, Duke and No. 5 South Carolina.

Women’s tennis

Lady Tigers ranked No. 25: The LSU women’s tennis team (15, 5-4 SEC) jumped 16 spots to No. 25 in the latest ITA ranking after wins over Nicholls State, No. 21 Ole Miss and No. 35 Mississippi State last week.

The Lady Tigers have won seven of their last 10 matches and are ranked in the Top 25 for the first time since 2009.

No. 39 Joana Vale Costa and No. 69 Skylar Kuykendall lead LSU in the individual rankings.

Track and field

SEC honors Brown, Gordon: LSU’s Rodney Brown was named SEC male athlete of the week and Daeshon Gordon freshman of the week for their performances at the Texas Relays last weekend.

Brown won the discus with a throw of 209 feet 8 inches.

Gordon finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in a wind-aided time of 13.09 seconds.
