LSU and BYU will battle in primetime.

The Tigers' season opener Sept. 2 against Cougars in Houston is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on ESPN, the school announced on Thursday.

The two teams will play for the first time ever in the Houston Texans' NRG Stadium in southwest Houston. The Tigers will play a third game in four years at NRG. They opened the 2014 season with a win over Wisconsin in the stadium and beat Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl after the 2015 season.

NRG Stadium, which opened in 2002, features a retractable roof that has been closed for both of LSU's appearances in the 71,795-seat arena.

At this time, tickets in LSU's sections of NRG Stadium and reserved parking are available to LSU football season ticket holders starting at $40, the school announced in a statement.

If LSU's 25,000-ticket allotment is not sold out to season ticket holders and students, these would go on sale to the general publish in mid-June on LSUtix.net
