1. WHAT WE LEARNED

Don't throw dirt on the Tigers just yet. After as controversial and crazy a week for LSU football since Les Miles was fired 13 months ago, the Tigers went on the road and pulled out an improbable 17-16 victory at Florida. A young and flawed football team grew up a little Saturday night at the Gators' expense.

2. TRENDING NOW

LSU’s offense. It didn’t turn out to be a point-a-minute steamroller, but it finally looked like the Matt Canada show as advertised when Ed Orgeron hired him from Pittsburgh last season. The Tigers used jet sweeps, shovel passes and lots and lots of motion and shifts to leave Florida befuddled, especially through the first three quarters.

3. FINAL THOUGHTS

When has LSU had a more desperately needed win? LSU fans can still find plenty to fret about, and Auburn coming to Tiger Stadium next week is an enormous challenge. But if you’re only as good as your last game, then you have to laud Coach O and his Tigers as much as they were bashed after the loss to Troy.
