It appears like the Les Miles-to-Michigan chatter can finally be silenced -- again.
San Francisco 49ers coach and ex-Michigan quarterback Jim Harbaugh will be the Wolverines’ next coach, according to a John Bacon, a writer who’s well-connected to Michigan.
“I just got off the phone with more sources tonight. It’s done. Jim Harbaugh is coming to Michigan -- and his friends are flying in Monday,” Bacon (@Johnubacon) tweeted on Saturday night.
Last week, Miles delivered his strongest statement about the talk linking him to Michigan, telling reporters the job is not in his consideration.
Michigan contacted Miles’ agent about the job to replace the fired Brady Hoke, according to at least three outlets covering the Wolverines.
Miles, who recently finished his 10th regular season at LSU, has been linked to the open job at his alma mater for the third time in seven years. The program flirted with the coach in 2007 and in 2010. Michigan hired Rich Rodriguez and then Hoke.
“There’s a tradition and a culture here we’ve kind of established,” Miles said last week. “The young men that come in here really enjoy stepping into this room and being a part of that culture. I think that this team has the potential to play in championships.”
