According to numerous reports, former LSU baseball coach Smoke Laval has been relieved of his head coaching duties at the University of North Florida.

Laval spent five years as LSU's head coach, bridging the gap between iconic coach Skip Bertman and current LSU coach Paul Mainieri. LSU reached the College World Series twice under Laval but missed the postseason for the first time in nearly two decades in 2006, leading to Laval's resignation.

He had spent the past seven seasons as UNF's head coach, taking over in 2010 and leading the Ospreys to a 237-160 record.

His club went 33-24 this season, but lost nine of its last 11 games, including an 0-2 performance in the Atlantic Sun tournament.
