COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The No. 25 LSU men’s tennis team used a dominating doubles point and freshman Simon Freund’s first career Southeastern Conference clinch to defeat South Carolina 4-1 in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Thursday in College Station.
Meanwhile in Columbia, South Carolina, LSU’s women beat Missouri 4-1 to win their first-round SEC match.
The Tigers (17-7, 6-6 SEC) continues their SEC tournament run at noon Friday when it faced second-seed and sixth-ranked Texas A&M (18-4, 11-1).
The No. 24-ranked LSU women defeated Missouri in a rain-delayed match to put the Lady Tigers in the SEC tourney quarterfinals.
LSU returns to action at 1 p.m. Friday against Texas A&M.
