The College Football Playoff’s selection committee updates its rankings Tuesday. Here’s how The Advocate’s Ted Lewis and Scott Rabalais see it shaking out so far:

Ted Lewis

CFP semifinals

Sugar Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 TCU

Briefly: You want game management? Try the Tide’s second half vs. Auburn. The committee has said it will take injuries into consideration, so does losing QB J.T. Barrett keep Ohio State out of the top four?

Rose Bowl: No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 3 Florida State

Briefly: All the Ducks have to do is beat the team (Arizona) that beat them at home. Maybe a neutral field will help. The Noles keep dodging bullets, but Georgia Tech is not a team you want to fall behind.

Other CFP bowls

Cotton: Baylor vs. Ole Miss

Peach: Mississippi St. vs. Wisconsin

Orange: Ga. Tech vs. Michigan St.

Fiesta: Boise State vs. Arizona

CFP semifinals

Sugar Bowl: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Baylor

Briefly: No debate about Bama at No. 1. All debate about who’s No. 4. Baylor jumps TCU because it won head-to-head. But Ohio State is lurking and will be rewarded if it beats Wisconsin with a third-string QB.

Rose Bowl: No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 3 Florida State

Briefly: Someone among these four is not going to make it. Oregon has to win a revenge rematch with Arizona. FSU can’t keep escaping, can it? Georgia Tech could be the team to make the magic disappear.
