Men golfers tie for 10th in Querencia Cabo

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico — Freshman Nathan Jeansonne shot 1-under-par 70 Tuesday to help the LSU men’s golf team to a tie for 10th in the Querencia Cabo Collegiate at Querencia Golf Club.

Zach Wright led the Tigers in the final individual standings, tying for 18th with a 2-over 215.

Gnat, Finnegan pick up SEC weekly honors

LSU junior Ashleigh Gnat earned Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week, and Sarah Finnegan was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Gnat scored 9.95 on vault, beam and floor to win all three titles in LSU’s win over Florida last week. Finnegan tied her career high with a 9.925 on the beam and 9.90 on bars.

Women’s tennis team ranked ninth

The LSU women’s tennis team is ranked ninth in the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for the highest mark in school history.

The Lady Tigers’ previous highs have been 12th and 13th, both accomplished this year.

LSU is 11-3.

Clarke, Chapman on Canada soccer team

Two soccer standouts with LSU ties, Allysha Chapman and Summer Clarke, are with the Canadian team competing in the Algarve Cup beginning Wednesday in Portugal.

Chapman, who was an LSU senior in 2012, plays professionally with the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League.

Clarke is a junior at LSU and has 24 goals and 12 assists in three seasons, twice earning second-team All-SEC honors.
