SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts -- LSU sophomore forward Jordan Mickey was selected to the 16-player watch list for the 2015 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award as chosen by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

LSU center Jarell Martin was named to the 15-member watch list of the 2015 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award

The Malone Award is named after Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Karl Malone and the annual honor in its inaugural year recognizes the top power forwards in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 16 candidates.

Entering Tuesday night’s game at Texas A&M, Mickey is one of two players in the Southeastern Conference averaging a double double – 17.1 points and 10.8 rebounds. He is ranked third in scoring, second in rebounds, third in field goal percentage (53.1%) and he is the nation’s active block leader at 3.8 a game.

By early March, the current list of 16 finalists for the 2015 Karl Malone Award will be narrowed down to five players. The final five players in contention for the award will be presented to Mr. Malone and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee. The winner of the 2015 Karl Malone Award will be presented at ESPN’s new College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy’s from Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 10, 2015. The Awards will be televised live on ESPN2 at 8:00pm EST.

Included on that list is LSU inside player Jarell Martin who is averaging 15.9 points per game and 8.9 rebounds. He is fourth in field goal percentage at 49.3 percent in the SEC. He ranked fifth in scoring and third in rebounds in the league.
