After a year away, LSU returned to the top 10 in the two major college football polls released Sunday.
The Tigers, 2-0 after a 45-21 win over Auburn, are No. 8 in the Associated Press top 25 and are No. 9 in the USA Today/coaches poll. LSU, which received one first-place vote in the AP poll, hasn’t been inside the top 10 since last September, before a loss to Mississippi State sent the Tigers plummeting from No. 8 to No. 17.
Auburn is ranked No. 25 in the coaches poll but slipped completely out of the AP poll after LSU’s win. LSU is one of six SEC teams in the AP top 25: 3 Ole Miss, 7 Georgia, 12 Alabama, 14 Texas A&M and 25 Missouri.
