The College Football Playoff’s selection committee updates its rankings Tuesday. Here’s how our Ted Lewis and Scott Rabalais see it shaking out so far:

Ted Lewis

Sugar Bowl: 1. Florida State vs. 4. Oregon

Even with Jameis Winston saying he’s hurting his team, the Seminoles keep piling up wins. The Ducks are, too, albeit so late at night that only CFP committee members are watching.

Rose Bowl: 2. Mississippi State vs. 3. Alabama

Or flip them, because the winner of Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa is going to run the table through the SEC title game, and the loser won’t have to win the SEC West to get in — just like Bama in 2011.

Other CFP bowls

Cotton: Baylor vs. Nebraska

Peach: Auburn vs. Marshall

Orange: Duke vs. Ohio State

Fiesta: TCU vs. Arizona State

With Bama next, State is the only SEC team left that can lose and still feel good about getting in. Why TCU instead of Bama? The Horned Frogs have four wins over ranked teams, the Crimson Tide just two.

Rose Bowl: 2. Florida State vs. 3. Oregon

Pass one last big test Saturday at Miami, and the Seminoles should be in the CFP. Oregon has scored 42 points or more in eight games but would have to survive the Pac-12 title game vs. Arizona State.
