Former LSU and Catholic High standout Aaron Nola was selected to participate for the U.S. team in MLB’s Futures Game, set for July 12 in Cincinnati.
Nola, chosen by Philadelphia with the seventh pick in last year’s draft, earlier this month was promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 22-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA in his first two starts with Lehigh Valley; before that, he was 7-3 with a 1.88 ERA in 12 starts for Double-A Reading.
The Futures Game, held annually the week of the MLB All-Star game, features some of baseball’s top minor league prospects in a United States vs. the World format. The game will air live at 2 p.m. CDT on MLB Network.
