Rashard Robinson hasn’t played a down of football in 18 months.
That didn’t deter the San Francisco 49ers.
The former LSU defensive back heard his name called as the 133rd overall pick in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft on Saturday. He made six starts in his sophomore season with the Tigers, which ended with his dismissal from the team for academic reasons. Robinson was also suspended that season for failing a drug test.
Despite his off-the-field issues, Robinson compiled 33 tackles, four pass breakups and one interception through 20 games.
The 6-foot-1, 171-pounder contributed immediately as a freshman, flashing the length and speed pro teams coveted him for even though he had been away from the game since 2014.
