Louisiana DA drops drug, gun charges; refuses to 'ruin' Alabama football players Cam Robinson, Laurence Jones' lives _lowres

Advocate staff photo by BILL FEIG -- Alabama offensive lineman Cam Robinson (74) has a word with an official during a timeout in the first half Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, in Tuscaloosa. Alabama won 30-16.

Alabama players Cam Robinson and Hootie Jones were arrested on drug possession charges Tuesday morning in West Monroe, according to a report by Yahoo Sports.

Robinson also faces a charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, a felony, according to the report.

Robinson is considered one of the best linemen in college football and was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2015, Yahoo Sports reported. Jones, a defensive back, played in nine games as a sophomore in 2015.

Both players are from Monroe.

After Alabama defeated LSU, 30-16, in November, Robinson took a bit of a jab at some Louisiana-born LSU Tigers, like Leonard Fournette, and their decision to attend LSU.

"A lot of people were saying they wanted to be different because everyone was coming to Alabama," Robinson said, according to AL.com. "You can choose to be different, you can choose to be whatever you want to be, but as long we keep winning I'm not really worried about who is trying to be different or trying to not be like everybody else. We just keep doing what we're doing."
