What’s At Stake
After two straight weeks of LSU losing series openers, the Tigers have a chance to secure the three-game set in Game 2. It’s not just any other game. Here’s a shot for LSU to win a series on the road over a team with a top 20 RPI.
What To Watch
Beau Jordan: Does he get a third straight start? Jordan made that improbable, game-saving catch in the 14th inning, and he smashed an RBI double in the 13th in the first SEC start of his career. He went 1-for-7 at the plate in replacement of the injured Jake Fraley (hamstring). Fraley was healthy enough, at least, to bat. He pinch hit late in the game.
All Lange: LSU used six relievers on Thursday, making its bullpen somewhat limited for Friday’s afternoon game. Good thing the Tigers have the SEC ERA leader, Alex Lange, hurling Friday. Said coach Paul Mainieri: “I told Alex Lange I’m going to give him the ball tomorrow. Just give it back to me when the game’s over.”
Know Your Opponent
Will Carter is exactly who an LSU team that struggled hitting through eight innings Thursday wants on the mound. Carter has allowed 43 hits and 25 runs in 35 innings pitched. He’s walked (21) more than he’s struck out (18).
