After a lengthy break with only one match last week, the LSU volleyball team returns to the court on Friday night hosting Tennessee at 7:30 p.m. at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The match will be streamed live on

The Tigers hit their first extended break in weeks at just the right time after battling through a 3-2 win over Texas A&M last Thursday in College Station, extending the team’s season-long winning streak to 10 matches. With only five matches remaining, LSU will take on Tennessee on Friday before traveling to face Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon.

“I’m really hopeful we’ll have a really nice crowd on Friday,” LSU coach Fran Flory said. “There are only three more times you’ll get to see this team in person here in Baton Rouge, and we really pushed to get a lot of groups and hopefully people will want to come out and see the high-level volleyball product that we should be able to provide.”

LSU’s winning streak has gotten the attention of the AVCA Top 25 pollsters as the Tigers are receiving votes in the latest release earlier this week, while also moving up after the win over the Aggies in the RPI, which has the team at No. 21, helping its case for earning an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament.

Also, LSU received another commitment on Thursday from middle blocker Brittany Welsh, who will join the Tigers as a freshman next fall.

The Mater Dei standout is 6-foot-4 product from Newport Beach, Calif.

BLUE-CHIPPER GOLOVIN SIGNS: Blue chip recruit Jessica Golovin officially signed with the Lady Tigers on Thursday. Golovin, the highest-ranked American recruit ever signed by LSU, is the second blue chip recruit signed by Julia S. Sell during her tenure.

Golovin, a native of New York City, attends the John McEnroe Tennis Academy. During her prep career, Golovin received a recruiting ranking as high as No. 13 nationally. Golovin garnered a 20-15 overall record against some of the country’s best competition, including a 3-1 record against fellow five-star recruits and 4-0 record against four-star prospects.
