LSU’s game against UNC-Wilmington in the NCAA Baton Rouge regional will begin at 10:15 p.m. Saturday after a lengthy rain delay in the regional’s early game.

Tulane’s game against Lehigh – which started at 3 p.m. – was delayed three hours and 16 minutes because of rain and lightning in the fifth inning. It restarted at 8:01 p.m. The Green Wave eliminated the Mountain Hawks 15-3.

The NCAA mandates a 55-minute break between games. The SEC Network will still televise the LSU game in its entirety, the school says.

The start time might be the latest ever for an LSU baseball game.

The Tigers (49-10) and Seahawks (40-16) are playing in the winner bracket final. The loser must win three straight games – Sunday afternoon against Tulane and beat the winner of tonight’s game twice – to advance to a best-of-three super regional next week.

The winner can win the regional with one victory in a possible two games – 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday.

LSU, the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, is set to start freshman ace Alex Lange (10-0, 1.94) against UNC-Wilmington starting RHP Evan Phillips (2-1, 4.96).
