LSU’s SEC basketball slate unveiled _lowres

The LSU men’s basketball team finally learned the dates and times for its 18-game Southeastern Conference schedule for this season Friday night when the entire 2014-15 league slate was revealed on the SEC Network.

All of the Tigers’ 18 regular-season league matchups will be on television on the ESPN family of networks, SEC Network, CBS or Fox Sports Net — starting Thursday, Jan. 8 at Missouri. The game, which has a 6 p.m. start, will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.

It’ll be a quick turnaround for LSU’s home league opener, which will come two nights later on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. against Georgia on ESPNU.

This season, the Tigers will play Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M twice in home-and-home series and have one meeting with the other eight SEC schools.

They will host Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and go on the road for matchups with Arkansas, Mississippi State, Missouri and Vanderbilt.

The SEC will have seven league games on each Saturday of the season as well as four games on Tuesday, two on Wednesday and one on Thursday.

Two or three games will be televised by the SEC Network each Saturday with the remaining games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, CBS or Fox Sports Net spaced out throughout the afternoon and evening.

On Tuesday nights, ESPN and ESPNU will have one game each with two on the SEC Network, which will televise both Wednesday night contests. The Thursday night game will air on either ESPN or ESPN2.

LSU will have 10 conference games on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU with six more on the SEC Network, which launched Thursday. CBS and Fox Sports Net will televise one game each.

Two of LSU’s league games — at Florida on Jan. 20 and against Kentucky on Feb. 10 — will be part of ESPN’s Super Tuesday package announced earlier this week.

The Kentucky game will cap a demanding three-game, six-day home stand for the Tigers. They’ll also host Auburn on Feb. 5 and Alabama on Feb. 7 before facing the Wildcats.

That stretch will come after a busy January in which LSU will play five of its first eight league games on the road.

The back end of LSU’s home-and-home with Florida on Feb. 21 at noon in the Maravich Center will be televised by CBS. It’ll be the Tigers’ first home game on the network since Feb. 24, 2007, when they upset the third-ranked Gators 66-56.

It was also previously announced that LSU will have at least three non-conference games on cable television as well this season.

The Tigers will again play in the ESPN Tipoff Marathon, hosting Texas Tech on Nov. 18, and visit West Virginia on Dec. 4 as part of the SEC-Big 12 Challenge. Both games will be televised by ESPN2.

LSU will also have its Nov. 21 opener with Old Dominion in the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, televised by CBS Sports Network. The Tigers’ other two games in the tournament on Nov. 22 or 23 and Nov. 24 could be carried by CBS Sports Network as well.

As many as eight other non-conference games could be picked up by the networks or aired online on ESPN3.

The SEC tournament, which will be played March 11-15 in Nashville, Tennessee, will be televised by ESPN and SEC Network.
