BRADENTON, Fla. — LSU sophomore Caroline Nistrup posted birdies on consecutive holes late in her final round Monday to post a 2-over-par 74 for a total of 8-over 296 (72-74-76-74) and a tie for 12th at the NCAA women’s golf championships at “The Concession” Club.

Tulane’s Silvia Garces fired a fine-round 1-under-par 71 for a total of 74-75-73-71—– 293 +5 to finished in ninth place.

Alabama’s Emma Talley posted a 69 and won the title at 3-under 285 (70-73-73-69). She had to withstand the challenges of Gaby Lopez of Arkansas (66) and Leona Maguire of Duke (68) who tied for second at 286.

“It was definitely not my best day,” Nistrup would said when summing up the round. “I couldn’t really get the driver going or my approach shots. I had some good saves on the front nine. I missed some short putts that was a bit annoying. It was nice finish getting birdies on two of the last three.”
