The SEC Network on Tuesday unveiled a new SEC Storied documentary, slated to run in September, that focuses on the sudden and tragic death of Bo Rein before he ever coached his first game at LSU.

LSU hired Robert “Bo” Rein as its new football head coach at the end of the 1979 season in hopes that his youthful energy could revitalize the program. He previously had became the youngest head coach in major college football when he took over at North Carolina State at the age of 30.

Returning from a recruiting trip on Jan. 10, 1980, the small plane in which he was flying crashed in the Atlantic Ocean, roughly 1,000 miles off course.

The title of the documentary, “The Bo You Don’t Know,” makes reference to fact that Rein is unfamiliar to many SEC followers.
