LSU secured another top Louisiana player on Thursday.

Safety Cameron Lewis (Wossman High, Monroe) committed to the Tigers, opting to attend LSU over schools such as Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Michigan and Georgia.

Lewis is a four-star recruit, according to Rivals.com and 247 Sports' composite rankings.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lewis becomes LSU’s eighth commitment for the Class of 2016. He’s the Tigers’ third defensive back prospect and second safety, joining Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy cornerback Saivion Smith and New Orleans McDonough 35 safety Clifford Chatman.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. The first day a senior can officially sign with a college football program is Feb. 3, 2016.
