Lady Tigers release basketball schedule _lowres

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In conjunction with the announcement of the conference schedule, coach Nikki Caldwell unveiled the 2015-16 schedule for the LSU women’s basketball team Thursday evening.

It features more than a dozen games inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center and key matchups against three-time national champion Connecticut and nine other teams that qualified for last year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Lady Tigers will begin the season Nov. 4 with in an exhibition game against Union University inside the PMAC .

A clash against Wake Forest in North Carolina will be the first of five road games during the nonconference portion of the schedule beginning Nov. 13, as LSU will travel to UALR on Nov. 17, Tulane on Nov. 23 and participate in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida, that also features Purdue, Louisville and Marist November 27-29.

The highlight of December will be played in the Northeast, as the Lady Tigers will square off against Rutgers on Dec. 19, before taking on Connecticut two days later in the first meeting between the two teams since November of 2010.

Visitors to the PMAC begin with a date against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 15, Long Beach State on Nov. 21, Texas Southern on Dec. 1, UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 13 and Samford on Dec. 28.

Southeastern Conference teams will play 16 league games in the upcoming year.

Ten of the Lady Tigers’ games will be against a single league opponent, with two games against a rotating set of squads and two games against a permanent opponent. LSU’s permanent opponent is Texas A&M, and the two teams will play Jan. 10 in College Station and Feb. 18 in Baton Rouge.

Along with the Aggies, the Lady Tigers will have an in-season series with Florida and Georgia, with the team also hosting Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State and Tennessee. LSU will have single games on the road with Alabama, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Kentucky and South Carolina.
