The LSU Tigers landed their biggest prospect to date for 2014 on Monday when Arlington (Texas) Timberview defensive back Ed Paris committed to LSU.

Paris (6-foot-2, 195 pounds), a top-10 national prospect, announced his commitment via Twitter, changing his profile picture from one of himself in a high school jersey to a photo of the “win” crossbar from inside the LSU locker room.

Paris said last week that his top three finalists were LSU, Texas and Florida. Paris moved to Texas from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

According to 24/7 Sports, Paris is a five-star prospect ranked No. 9 nationally and No. 1 in the state of Texas. Rivals rates him the No. 38 player nationally and No. 10 in Texas as a four-star prospect.

Scout also gives Paris four stars. ESPN has him listed on his 2014 Watch List.

Paris’ pledge gives LSU six commitments for 2014 and its second from Texas. The Tigers didn’t sign any players from Texas earlier this month.

Paris had at least two dozen scholarship offers, including Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Clemson and Michigan.
