LSU running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries as the No. 8 Tigers defeated Syracuse 34-24 on Saturday.

It was a game that continued to establish Fournette as a Heisman Trophy candidate.

And Syracuse coach Scott Shafer hated every second of it.

"I really wanted to kick his ass to be honest with you, and I know he'd appreciate that," said Shafer in a story on syracuse.com. "You get a chance to play a Heisman Trophy candidate, you want to knock him backward. You want to get after him and you want him to no longer be in the Heisman race after you play him."
