WHAT TO WATCH: Coach Paul Mainieri said Nola had, maybe, the best outing of his career in the Friday win at Texas A&M last week. That’s quite the statement. How will Nola follow up that performance in this, likely his last regular-season start at Alex Box? The Tigers need him to be strong. In a key SEC series, LSU must get the series-opening win. LSU has just once this season won both Game 2 and Game 3 of a series.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT: Turnbull is one of the best pitchers in the league. He’s allowed just 19 earned runs in his 12 starts. The Tide slipped over the past two weeks, falling from its top spot in the SEC West to fourth after back-to-back series losses.

IN THE HOLE: Alabama at LSU, noon Saturday.
