LSU forward Ben Simmons was named Monday as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Simmons averaged 18.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in blowout wins over Auburn and Mississippi State last week. He also shot 61.5 percent from the field (16-of-26).
Simmons recorded his third 20-point, 10-rebound, five-assist game of the season at Auburn last Tuesday night, which was good for his league-leading 16th double-double of the season.
Simmons, who was named SEC Player of the Week on Dec. 7, also earned the conference’s freshman of the week honor on Nov. 23, Jan. 4 and Jan. 18.
Simmons’ teammate, guard Antonio Blakeney, shared the SEC Freshman of the Week honor with Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere on Nov. 16.
