Some of the United States’ best women’s tennis players will converge on LSU for the USTA 25K Women’s Professional tennis tournament starting Sunday at the LSU tennis facility.
Hosted by the Southern Lifestyle Development Tennis Classic, the tournament attracts talent from professional tennis (Catherine Bellis, ranked No. 248 in the world; and defending champion Danielle Lao, ranked No. 277) and the USA Junior national team.
The tournament starts 9 a.m. Sunday with qualifying, while main draw play begins 9 a.m. Tuesday. The tournament ends June 26.
LSU’s women’s tennis team, which has the top recruiting class in the country, will be represented by recruits Raveena Kingsley and Rebecca Weismann. Kingsley, the nation’s top recruit with a world pro ranking of 312, will start play Tuesday. Weismann will playing a qualifying event starting Tuesday.
