One home night game down, six more to go.

LSU’s home opener against Sam Houston State on Sept. 6 will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on SEC Network, the league announced in a statement Thursday.

The Southeastern Conference released the first 16 games to be televised by the SEC Network. All 14 teams have a spot on the new network over the first four weeks of the season.

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva got assurances from ESPN and the SEC Network that they’d make every attempt to give the Tigers more home night games.

LSU has seven home games, and the Sam Houston State game was a likely pick to be at night.

The SEC Network will have time slots of 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays, according to the release.
