"We don't walk! We run!"
Ed Orgeron barked these phrases around the practice field Tuesday, his second full day as LSU's interim head coach and the first during a full, padded practice. Reporters were allowed to watch an hour of practice, mostly position and individual drills.
In just two practices under Orgeron, LSU folks are noticing a difference in the way he runs drills as compared to former coach Les Miles. He's changed "everything," one person said.
"It's completely different," another said.
Here are more observations:
- Absentees: The same four players missing from Monday's 30-minute walk-through were not practicing Tuesday. The list includes RB Leonard Fournette (nursing ankle injury), OL Toby Weathersby (nursing ankle injury), DE Davon Godchaux (suspended) and C Ethan Pocic. Pocic watched practice and was not dressed out. It's unclear why he's not practicing, though coaches may be just resting the experienced senior.
- Mouton back: FB Bry'Kiethon Mouton practiced in full pads and appears to be back healthy after missing the Tigers' game at Auburn with an undisclosed injury. He did not travel to the Plains with the rest of the team and did not play in Game 3 against Mississippi State. At one point at practice Tuesday, trainers tended to Mouton's right foot/ankle, the potential injury area.
