HOUSTON — Tennessee quarterback Zach Mettenberger, a former LSU standout, injured his right shoulder playing behind a makeshift offensive line missing three starters. He said he has a sprain and thinks he’ll be able to play next week, but that he’ll have an MRI on Monday.

The rookie quarterback left the game when driven to the ground by J.J. Watt in the third quarter. On the series before the injury, Mettenberger threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Wright. Jake Locker replaced him and threw an interception on his first play.

Mettenberger had 184 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception.
