On Notre Dame's season

The Irish debuted at No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings, rebounding from a 20-19 home loss to Georgia on Sept. 9 by winning seven straight with wins over NC State, Southern Cal and Michigan State. They faltered down the stretch, though, with losses to Stanford in the season finale and a 41-8 beatdown at Miami.

On Notre Dame's offense

Junior Josh Adams leads a run-heavy Irish attack. The 6-2, 225-pounder averages 115 yards a game and has scored nine touchdowns. He averages 7.3 yards a carry. Junior quarterback Brandon Wimbush completes less than half of his attempts and averages just 165.5 yards a game as part of a 104th-ranked pass unit nationally. 

On Notre Dame's defense 

The Irish's defense is carried by junior LB Te'Von Coney, a Florida native. He's got 99 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 3 sacks and a recovered fumble. The Irish are 32nd nationally in scoring defense and 44th in total defense. In their last four games, three ND opponents broke the 30-point barrier.
