‘That’s my dog’: Kevin Steele gives LSU, Alabama rivalry a little lagniappe _lowres

Advocate file photo by TRAVIS SPRADLING -- Defensive coordinator Kevin Steele's new system will get its first test at LSU when linebacker Duke Riley and the Tigers take on McNeese State on Saturday.

A trio of Louisiana natives treated new LSU Defensive Coordinator Kevin Steele to some Louisiana cuisine recently, an event captured on video and posted at espn.com. While enjoying barbecue shrimp, seafood gumbo, redfish and crabmeat, they turned their attention to the main item on the menu: the LSU defense.

Steele was joined by LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, former Tiger lineman Marcus Spears, a college football analyst for the SEC Network, and SEC Network host Peter Burns.

Steele was asked about the football culture at LSU and how he feels about his squad heading into the season: “Most exciting thing about it is, we have a lot of talented guys,” Steele said. “They command and demand from each other that, “You’re an LSU defender, and this is the way we do it.”

And Steele revealed his biggest surprise since coming to LSU.
