OKLAHOMA CITY – LSU’s opening game against Michigan in the Women’s College World Series was postponed due to persistent rain at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on Thursday night.

The game has been rescheduled for 8:30 p.m. Friday. Which ESPN network will show the game is yet to be determined.

The first game of the Thursday night session between Alabama and Oklahoma started at 6 p.m. and entered a rain delay as the Sooners prepared to bat in the bottom of the second inning of a scoreless game.

The LSU-Michigan game was scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Alabama-OU game, but shortly after 9 p.m. the NCAA suspended the first game and postponed the second game.

The rescheduling of the Thursday night games until Friday night means the games originally scheduled for Friday night will be rescheduled for Saturday. Those games will feature the winners of the two day games Thursday – Georgia and Auburn – followed by a game between the winners of the two postponed games.

The NCAA will announce times for the Saturday games later.

The LSU team left ASA Hall of Fame Stadium as soon as the postponement was announced and was unavailable for comment.
