No game? Experts disagree on how Saturday’s cancellation will affect LSU’s season _lowres

Advocate staff photo by TRAVIS SPRADLING -- Lightning lights up the clouds over the scoreboard above the north end zone, as LSU fan Sam Raborn of Kentwood passes the time during another severe weather and lightning delay, Saturday in the 'first half 'of the LSU-McNeese State football game at Tiger Stadium.

Oh, this again.

The kickoff to LSU's home opener against Jacksonville State on Saturday was delayed nearly an hour for weather. The Tigers and Gamecocks were scheduled to start at 7:25 p.m. after a thunderstorm rolled across Baton Rouge. The Tigers' home season opener last season against McNeese State was canceled because of lightning.

Kickoff was scheduled for 6:32 p.m. and was set for an ESPNU broadcast. Lightning first struck while players warmed up on the field. Officials cleared the field. More lightning struck about 6:09 p.m.
