This is no cakewalk. The Gamecocks are ranked No. 5 and played in the Football Championship Subdivision championship game last season. They have a handful of former Football Bowl Subdivision players, but the Tigers have the top talent.
LSU 34, Jacksonville State 13
LSU has a bruised ego, which should serve it well against a talented FCS team. The problem: No one is feeling sorry for the Tigers — especially the Gamecocks, who will be looking to spring a monumental upset in Tiger Stadium.
LSU 31, Jacksonville State 17
My preseason pick for this game was LSU 45-25. Then I watched the Tigers on offense against Wisconsin. Not that LSU can’t score against Jacksonville State, but I expect the Tigers will still be in a state of shock. LSU wins, but it won’t be pretty.
