The 6-foot-5, 195-pound prospect is the No. 23 wide receiver and the No. 136 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He’s the No. 5 player from Alabama.
Collins — who officially visited the Tigers on Dec. 2 — had a total of 20 offers, including 10 from Southeastern Conference schools. Wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig, an Alabama native, led LSU’s late push for Collins.
Had he signed with LSU, Collins would have 24th addition to the Tigers’ class and LSU’s third wide receiver signees. He caught 103 passes and scored 25 touchdowns in his final two years of high school, rolling up nearly 2,000 receiving yards.
