The LSU women’s basketball team seeks to bounce back against New Orleans in its final nonconference game of the season at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Doors to the arena open at 1 p.m. and the first 500 in attendance will receive free Lady Tiger New Year’s Eve celebration hats.

The Lady Tigers (8-4) suffered a 76-70 loss at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Privateers (1-12) have lost 10 consecutive games and recorded their only win of the season Nov. 20 over Arkansas-Monticello, 68-58. LSU leads the all-time series with UNO 21-5, and the Lady Tigers have won the past six. UNO has not defeated LSU since March 1, 1993.

LSU’s balanced scoring attack features four double-figure scorers, led by Theresa Plaisance, the SEC’s top scorer at 18.1 points per game.

Plaisance scored a team-high 19 points in 27 minutes at Florida Gulf Coast before fouling out with less than nine minutes to play.

Following her eighth double-digit game in her past nine contests, freshman Danielle Ballard has taken over second on the team in scoring 14.3 points per game.

Ballard is tied for the SEC lead in freshman scoring with Tennessee’s Bashaara Graves.

Junior guard Jeanne Kenney ranks among the top six in the SEC in assists at a team-high 4.4 per game.

As a team, LSU continues to shine offensively, having produced five consecutive 70-point games. The Lady Tigers are posting 73.8 points per game and shooting 44.3 percent.

UNO enters the game after consecutive losses to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, including a 63-54 defeat Friday at Lakefront Aerna.

Senior guards Keri Thomas and Meche’le Thomas lead UNO at 12.3 and 9.1 points per game. Fogelstrom is the top rebounder at 8.3 per game, followed by Amber Clay (5.7).

The game will be carried on the LSU Sports Radio Network on WBRP-FM, 107.3 in Baton Rouge.

Following Monday’s game, LSU will prepare for its Southeastern Conference opener as Ole Miss comes to Baton Rouge for a 7 p.m. tipoff Thursday.

It will be the first of five SEC contests for the Lady Tigers in January.

UNO next plays at Lakefront Arena at noon Saturday against Southern Miss.
