The LSU men’s tennis team fell in a 4-3 heartbreaker to No. 38 Alabama at Dub Robinson Stadium and defeated Alcorn St. 6-0 at Manship YMCA on Friday.

The match came down to the court-four singles between LSU’s Tam Trinh and Alabama’s Stuart Kenyon. Trinh took the first set 7-6, and Kenyon took the second 7-5. All eyes were on court four to finish the dual match, but the singles match fell in Alabama’s favor and Kenyon took the third set 6-4, which clinched victory for the Crimson Tide.

LSU fell to 7-6, 0-3 SEC, while Alabama improved to 8-6, 2-1.

LSU women’s golf sixth at Darius Rucker event

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Caroline Nistrup posted an even par round of 71 to pace the LSU Lady Tigers in the opening round Friday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club.

Nistrup is in a group tied for seventh, four shots off the lead of Alabama’s Stephanie Meadow, who posted a 4-under round of 67.

The second round of the tournament is set for a 7 a.m. start Saturday.

LSU’s Holman selected to national team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Briana Holman of the LSU volleyball team has been selected as one of 12 players on the U.S. Collegiate National Team by USA Volleyball, the organization announced, and will participate in a 10-day tour of China in late June.

Considered a second tryout for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team, Holman is one of just three middle blockers on this year’s team and one of a trio of student-athletes with eligibility remaining at their respective universities selected from the Southeastern Conference.
