Joe McKnight never played for LSU, but the Kenner native and John Curtis alum will be remembered in a Tigers jersey.

Duke Riley, who also attended John Curtis Christian High School, will wear No. 4 in honor of Joe McKnight in the Citrus Bowl, according to a report from lsusports.com. McKnight, who starred at Southern California before playing several years in the NFL, was killed in an apparent road rage incident earlier this month

Riley, a senior linebacker, has worn No. 40 this season.

“I lost a brother and someone I always looked up to,” Riley said in the report. “Joe was someone I grew up watching, someone that was my biggest role model. People say legends never die so I’m wearing this No. 4 jersey for Joe McKnight (tomorrow) against Louisville."

The Tigers face off with Louisville in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl at 10 a.m. on New Year's Eve.
